Clients
Clients is a system for organizing your work around client relationships. It enables freelancers, agencies, and consultants to group projects and tasks by client, apply consistent branding, and maintain organized records of client work.
What is a Client?
A client represents an external party you're doing work for. Each client has:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Name | Display name for the client |
| Slug | URL-friendly identifier (lowercase letters, numbers, hyphens) |
| Logo URL | Optional link to the client's logo image |
| Brand Colors | Primary and secondary colors for visual identification |
| Timezone | Client's timezone for scheduling context |
| Tags | Optional tags for categorization |
Clients are user-scoped, meaning each user manages their own client list independently.
Client Relationships
Clients connect to other entities in the platform to help you organize work:
Client-Project Relationships
Projects can be associated with a client. When you link a project to a client:
- The project appears on the client's detail page
- You can filter projects by client
- Creating a project from the client page automatically links it
You can link existing projects to a client or create new projects directly for a specific client.
Client-Task Relationships
Tasks can be assigned to a client independent of projects. This is useful for:
- Client-specific work that doesn't belong to a project
- Quick tasks or requests from a client
- Filtering your task board by client
Client Branding
Each client can have custom branding settings:
Brand Colors
Set primary and secondary colors in hex format (#RRGGBB) to visually identify client-related items. These colors help you quickly recognize which client work belongs to at a glance.
Logo
Provide a URL to the client's logo. The logo displays on the client detail page for easy identification.
Use Cases
Freelancers
Track multiple clients and their projects in one place. See all work for a specific client at a glance, filter tasks by client, and maintain organized records.
Agencies
Organize team work by client accounts. Link multiple projects to each client and track progress across all client engagements.
Consultants
Group advisory work by client. Associate notes, tasks, and projects with specific clients to maintain clear separation between engagements.
Plan Requirements
Clients are available on paid plans:
| Plan | Client Limit |
|---|---|
| Free | Not available |
| Plus | 25 clients |
| Pro | 100 clients |
| Lifetime | Unlimited |
When you reach your client limit, you'll need to upgrade to add more clients or remove existing ones.
Downgrading Plans
If you downgrade to a plan with a lower client limit:
- Existing clients remain accessible
- You cannot create new clients until you're under the limit
- Consider consolidating or removing clients before downgrading
Activity Logging
Client operations are logged for auditing:
- Client creation
- Client updates
- Client deletion
View the activity log in your account settings to track client history.
Best Practices
- Use descriptive names - Choose names that clearly identify the client
- Set brand colors - Visual differentiation helps you quickly identify client work
- Link projects consistently - Associate all related projects with the appropriate client
- Use tags - Add tags to group clients by industry, status, or other criteria
- Review regularly - Archive or remove clients you're no longer working with
