How to Publish Your Public Profile
Your public profile showcases your work, skills, and services to visitors. This guide walks you through publishing it for the first time.
Prerequisites
Before you begin:
- You must be signed in to your account
- You need a verified email address (recommended)
- At least one project to showcase (optional but recommended)
Steps
Step 1: Navigate to Profile Settings
- Click your avatar or name in the sidebar
- Select Profile or Settings
- Go to the Public Profile tab
Step 2: Enable Your Public Profile
Find the Enable Public Profile toggle and turn it on.
Step 3: Choose Your Profile URL
Set your unique profile URL:
- Enter your desired slug (e.g.,
johndoe) - The full URL will be:
yoursite.com/@johndoeoryoursite.com/profile/johndoe - Check availability — slugs must be unique
Step 4: Fill in Basic Information
Complete your profile with:

| Display Name | Your public-facing name |
| Bio | Short description of who you are |
| Profile Picture | Upload or select an avatar |
| Location | City, country, or "Remote" |
Step 5: Configure Profile Sections
Choose what to display:
- Projects — Showcase your public projects
- Skills — List your technologies and expertise
- Services — What you offer (if applicable)
- Contact — How visitors can reach you
Step 6: Preview Your Profile
Click Preview to see how your profile looks to visitors. Check:
- All information displays correctly
- Projects appear as expected
- Links work properly
Step 7: Publish
Once satisfied, click Save or Publish. Your profile is now live.
Expected Result
After publishing:
- Your profile is accessible at the URL you chose
- Search engines can index your profile (unless disabled)
- Public projects appear on your profile
- Visitors can see your bio, skills, and contact information
Troubleshooting
URL is taken
Choose a different slug. Try:
- Adding numbers (e.g.,
johndoe1) - Using underscores or hyphens
- Your full name or initials
Profile doesn't appear
Check that:
- The profile toggle is enabled
- You clicked Save/Publish
- You're viewing the correct URL
Projects not showing
Projects must be individually marked as public. See How to make a project public.
Preview looks different from live
Clear your browser cache and refresh. Some changes may take a moment to propagate.
