How to Duplicate a Workflow

Duplicating a workflow lets you create variations without starting from scratch. This is useful for creating similar automations with different configurations.

Prerequisites

Before you begin:

  • You must have an existing workflow to duplicate
  • You need at least view access to the original workflow

Steps

Step 1: Find the Workflow

  1. Navigate to Workflows in the sidebar
  2. Locate the workflow you want to duplicate

Step 2: Open the Duplicate Option

There are two ways to access the duplicate action:

From the Workflow List

  1. Hover over the workflow card
  2. Click the three-dot menu (⋮)
  3. Select Duplicate or Make a Copy

From Inside the Workflow

  1. Open the workflow
  2. Click the three-dot menu or Actions button
  3. Select Duplicate or Make a Copy

Step 3: Configure the Copy

A dialog appears with options:

NamePre-filled as "Copy of [Original Name]" — change as needed
DescriptionOptionally update the description
Include linked projectsChoose whether to copy project links

Step 4: Create the Duplicate

Click Duplicate or Create Copy. The new workflow is created and you're taken to it.

Step 5: Customize the Copy

Edit the duplicated workflow to make it unique:

  1. Update the name to reflect its purpose
  2. Modify the workflow steps as needed
  3. Link to appropriate projects
  4. Save your changes

Expected Result

After duplicating:

  • A new workflow appears in your list
  • The original workflow remains unchanged
  • The copy has independent settings and links
  • You can edit the copy without affecting the original

Troubleshooting

Duplicate option is missing

Check that:

  • You have permission to create workflows
  • You haven't reached your workflow limit
  • The workflow isn't locked or archived

Copy has wrong name

Edit the workflow immediately after duplication to rename it. The default "Copy of..." name is just a placeholder.

Linked projects didn't copy

This may be intentional. Many users want duplicates without the original's project links. Manually link projects if needed.

Workflow nodes are missing in the copy

Ensure the original workflow was fully loaded before duplicating. Try refreshing the page and duplicating again.
